Piano
Arguably the most competent solo instrument, the piano’s range and polyphonic ability allow multiple parts to be played simultaneously, creating the effect of a larger ensemble. The piano offers instantly satisfying pitch and tonal quality even to beginning students, and it requires a simpler initial dexterity than most other instruments, making it particularly suitable for young children as well as adults.
This is the best place to start a good music education, as the piano keyboard provides a helpful map to understanding the concepts of music theory. A basic understanding of piano is an excellent foundation for learning all other instruments and for composing music. For this reason, college music majors on every instrument are required to develop basic keyboard competency. The piano course at Blossom Music School is available at all levels and includes note-reading, ear-training, theory and technique.
